SWIRCA & More sponsors the Transportation Remuneration Incentive Program (TRIP) to assist economically and socially deprived residents with supplemental transportation services which they might not otherwise be able to afford.
To take advantage of this program, you must be at least 60 years of age and a resident of Vanderburgh County, Indiana. You must complete an application and be accepted into the program. To request an application, call the Aging and Disabled Resource Center (ADRC) at 812-464-7817 or 866-400-0779.
All accepted applicants are mailed colored tickets every four (4) months: July, November and February. The color of the TRIP ticket presently being used is YELLOW and these tickets will expire on October 31, 2011.
The following transportation providers accept TRIP tickets:
Metropolitan Evansville Transit System (METS), bus and mobility van
601 John Street, Evansville, Indiana
812-435-6166
River City Yellow Cab Company
1027 E. Virginia Street, Evansville, Indiana
812-429-0000
Unity Taxi of Evansville
1607 N. Fares Avenue
Evansville, Indiana
812-421-9999
TRIP tickets are to be used as cash to pay for non-Medicaid Transportation services. All TRIP tickets are printed with an expiration date marked clearly on the ticket face. All expired tickets should be destroyed since providers have been instructed to decline tickets presented after the expiration date. TRIP tickets are non-transferable. They cannot be transferred from one TRIP client to another, nor are they to be used to tip the driver.
Unfortunately, due to inadequate funding, there is a waiting list for TRIP tickets.
