RAY RAYL 5K RUN/WALK

Ray Rayl Run

In parternership with the Greater Evansville Runners and Walkers Club (GERWC) the annual Ray Rayl 5K Run Walk will take place October 22, 2011. All proceeds benefit SWIRCA & More, serving the 6 counties in SW Indiana and the GERWC college scholarship program in memory of Ray Rayl. The USTAF certified course is a fast, flat course in the Garvin Park, Jacobsville neighborhood.

There are a variety of ways to compete in the annual event. Participants can run, walk, race walk, and children ages 4-12 can participate in a 50 Meter Kids Dash Run.

History of Ray Rayl 5K Run Walk

Ray Rayl (1921- 2002) was a gentleman. Soft spoken and caring, Ray was a role model. Generous with his time, Ray gave in many directions. Ray's enduring spirit and good values enriched the world around him and left our community a better place to live. Ray was a founding member of the Greater Evansville Runners and Walker Club. After Ray was no longer able to be a participant in running events, Ray volunteered countless hours to the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation track and field meets, YMCA of Southwestern Indiana, SWIRCA & More's River City Games and numerous area run/walks and community events.
